NOT A HOTEL KITAKARUIZAWA is located in a region with heavy snowfall from December to early April. To ensure a safe and comfortable stay, please carefully review the following instructions:
1. Clothing and Equipment
From December to February, the average temperature typically falls below freezing. Please ensure you are dressed warmly.
In particular, icy roads in the early morning and evening can be slippery. Avoid wearing heeled shoes and instead opt for sturdy, non-slip footwear.
Additionally, there have been cases where guests leave their smartphones in their rooms or forget their PIN codes, making it impossible to re-enter. Always carry the shared key device or write down your PIN code, and ensure you are adequately dressed before heading out.
2. For Guests Arriving by Car
Vehicle Equipment
From late November onward, there is a risk of icy or snowy roads. As the surrounding area includes mountain roads and steep slopes, we recommend using a 4WD vehicle equipped with snow tires or carrying tire chains.
For those unaccustomed to driving in snowy conditions, consider taking a taxi from Karuizawa Station.
Troubles on Snowy Roads
Snow-covered or icy roads can be far more slippery than expected. Please drive carefully to ensure your safety.
In the unfortunate event of a vehicle becoming stuck or an accident occurring, guests are responsible for arranging their own roadside assistance or similar services. If you need help, you may contact us via the app’s concierge function, and we will assist within our capabilities.
3. Facility Traffic Flow
During heavy snowfall, the road width may be reduced, making it difficult for vehicles to pass each other. Please adhere to the designated traffic flow (counter-clockwise) and drive cautiously.
4. Snow Removal Operations
In cases of significant snowfall, snow removal operations will be conducted within the premises.
- Hours: 9:00 AM until sunset
- Areas Covered: The surrounding roads within NOT A HOTEL KITAKARUIZAWA and some sections in front of individual houses
Please note that loud noises may occur during these operations. Your understanding is appreciated as we prioritize safety.
5. Use of Parking Spaces
Snow removal includes clearing the areas in front of the houses. When parking, please always use the designated covered parking spaces. Do not park on roadways, as this would obstruct snow removal vehicles.
6. Restricted Terrace Areas Due to Roof Snowfall
During snowy periods, there is a risk of snow falling from roofs, as well as slipping hazards. As a safety measure, certain areas within the property are off-limits. Even in unrestricted zones, please exercise caution.
